Teton Valley Days: MoJo in the Valley

Our neighbors and good friends from Andover, Leon Modeste and Jo Fortier (MoJo), came for a visit this past week. They were in Sun Valley for a wedding and decided to come see our "Idaho home!" They share our joy of heading west each year, as they have a home in Taos, New Mexico.

The adventures began as soon as they arrived on Sunday 6/29. Jo and I went on a late afternoon, hot run! That evening we hosted a fun cookout (TWR burgers, of course!) with MoJo and Kathryn, Lucie, Dylan and Caden Green, who had just flown in on Saturday. Connor ended up going home with the Greens for a sleepover with Caden. On Monday morning, MoJo, Connor, Caden and I ventured out to Rick's Basin, up at Targhee. Jo and I ran good sections of the trail, while Leon hiked with the boys. When we brought Caden home, Chad had arrived after his 2 1/2 day drive! We spent Monday afternoon floating the Teton River (Langs and MoJo). Because the water level was high and the water was very cold, we decided that the drift boat and canoe were the vessels of choice. No moose ... but a beautiful and fun float. Brady and Connor demonstrated some serious skills, skipping rocks at the put in and take out, while waiting for the shuttle. Brady took a turn on the oars, and was hugely helpful in unloading and loading the boats. That night we had another fun dinner on the deck, with pulled pork sandwiches (thank goodness for slow cooker dinners on days full of adventure!), followed by a fire and s'mores. Tuesday's adventure was to hike the Bannock Trail. The irony is that Tuesday, July 1st, was Leon's first day as the newly appointed Athletic Director at PA -- how awesome that we spent the day hiking and having fun here in Teton Valley! MoJo, Brady, Connor and I hiked up and rode the chairlift down. Margaret had TISA gymnastics camp for the day. Corbin biked the new trails around Rick's Basin and Quakie Ridge -- loved it! We met at the pool for a swim before heading down to pick up Mags. Tuesday evening, we all ventured over to the Greens for a drink before dinner. It was a good visit, lots of laughs! Tuesday night ended up with a late dinner on the deck - such a nice evening! On Wednesday morning, MoJo head back to SLC. Leon was off to Taos and Jo back to Andover for a week of work before heading to Taos. It was a really fun few days!
